Junior Maths Challenge
On Thursday 27th April the school is running the Junior Mathematics challenge. This will be available for all students in Year 7 and selected students in Year 8 (Year 8 students in the top Mathematics set). It is an opportunity for the students to earn a certificate in a prestigious national Mathematics competition. Students will only need to bring a pencil with them into the hall for the challenge, calculators and rulers are not allowed. It should be a fun challenge, there is no consequence for poor performance, and they should aim to try their best to answer the questions.
If you would like further details about the challenge, you can find details on the UKMT website (ukmt.org.uk)
In addition to the personal satisfaction of earning a certificate, the challenge also forms part of the inter-house Mathematics competition. The top three students from each form will have their scores added together and this will determine the position of each house in the competition. This year the house Mathematics competition is very close and the results of the Junior competition are likely to be crucial in determining who wins the trophy. Last year is was won by Castle house and the year before by Pitt.
Good luck to all of our students in Years 7 and 8 sitting the challenge.
