Students will attend Maths, English and Science lessons in sets of approximately 20. Only Mathematics sets are based on ability with students from Bridge, Castle and Gordon being placed into ability sets 1-4. All other subjects are of mixed, parallel ability. Students in Pitt, River and Theftord have the same setting provision for all subjects, with ability sets in Mathematics.

The top set in Mathematics in each half year also complete a GCSE in Further Mathematics.

Outside certificated GCSE’s, students in Year 10 continue to attend compulsory Games lessons on Wednesday afternoons for all of Year 11 (2 hours), or Thursday afternoons for all of Year 10 (2 hours),  where they are offered a wide range of sporting activities as well as time to work towards Senior sporting representation. They also attend PE lessons (2 hours) and RE lessons (2 hours) throughout the week in their science sets.
