Mathematics: Mission statement
To develop an appreciation of the intrinsic delights and application of Mathematics in the real world.
Key Stage 3
Mathematics offers students the opportunities to consolidate and extend their mathematical skills using a wide range of resources. Students are encouraged to stretch the limits of their understanding to ensure the high expectation of their progress is exceeded. This should give students a solid platform for the work they do in Key Stages 4 and 5.
In Year 7 students are taught in their form groups.
In Year 8 and 9 students are divided into two parallel groups. In each group there is a top set and two parallel sets.
Year 7 and 8 classes have seven one hour periods over the two week timetable. Year 9 classes have 6 periods a fortnight. Students in year 7, 8 and 9 have two homework assignments per week.
