Modern Foreign Languages
Modern Foreign Languages: Mission statement
We are committed to the study of languages to the highest level. Pupils are continuously encouraged to exploit opportunities to use learnt language creatively.
Key Stage 3
Pupils are introduced to the study of French and Spanish in Year 7. In Year 8 pupils have the opportunity to drop one of these in order to start the study of Latin. During year 8, pupils have the chance to attend a study visit in one of the target countries (Normandy, Barcelona and The Rhine Valley).
Key Stage 4
All of our students are required to study one foreign language to GCSE, many study two. All students regularly use our new state of the art language laboratory. They also have the opportunity to participate in an immersion tour to the target language country (Nice or Ronda).
Key Stage 5
French and Spanish are offered to students at ‘A’ Level. We work closely with the British Council and encourage our students to apply for student research bursaries. We also have link schools with which we are continuously expanding projects.
