Design & Technology: Mission statement
To provide students with a breadth of technological, design and realisation experiences to enable them to fully exercise their problem solving potential.
Key Stage 3
Design and Technology offers opportunities for pupils to develop their capabilities, through combining their designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding. Development of their critical understanding of technological processes, products and their manufacture prepares
them for making a contribution to life and work in an increasingly technological society.
Key Stage 4
Learners are given the opportunity to develop their 3-D problem solving skills to a high level through a range of challenges and tasks coupled with a variety of materials and technologies, including the specialist CAD-CAM equipment. The applied nature of the v GCSE in CAM Manufacturing alongside the Product Design course provide students with ample opportunity for creativity.
Key Stage 5
The breadth and depth at ‘A’ level in 3-D Product Design and Manufacture prepares students eloquently for higher level study at degree level in a range of disciplines. Key concepts and ethical debates are explored alongside the fundamental substantiation from quantitative data and investigation to develop and reason viable products for future markets.
